Security Guard(while talking to A over intercom): Madam, Farida is here

A: Farida..who??

Guard: Madam, Farida!

Me: Err…Fariha ..FariHA..FariHA Akhtar!

Guard: Jee..she’s saying Farida Akhtar

Guard(hangs up and tells me): My wife’s name is also Farida :)

Me: DUH!!!  emoticon

Scene 2

Me (checking out shawls in the market) when a shopkeeper notices me and says "Jee baby kiya chahye aapko"

  7. FariDa sounds such old and archaic name!!!! But yeah, its commonly taken for Fariha….shouldn’t parents consult the kids when naming them ? :D

Welcome to my blog..don’t remember if you have here before :) So, true..Farida seems to be an archaic name…since the guard was an old man so I believe his wife Farida jee must be old too .and that’s why I’m happy with Fariha :)

  15. Well, Farida isn’t too bad a name either, I guess. :D

I wouldn’t blame the shop-keeper in the second instance. You do look like you are fresh out of school (and that’s meant to be a compliment!). :)
