Haider Ali makes us proud!

September 27, 2008 – 11:51 pm

Haider Ali- a 23 year old Pakistani athlete has made the nation proud by winning a Silver medal in 2008 Summer Paralympics held at Beijing in China. Hats off to this guy who suffers from Cerebral Palsy but has brought back a Silver medal creating history because Pakistan never had won in International Paralympic Games before.

You can read more about Haider Ali in this wiki article that I just created (and ‘am hoping it doesn’t get deleted :P ) here.

Seven things WEIRD about me!

September 18, 2008 – 11:08 pm

Sometime ago (around 9 months back i.e..time flies so yeah it’s just *sometime* :P ) Asma tagged me to show the blogoworld how weird I am by writing  seven weird things about myself. Today, I finally thought to blog it, so here’s the list:

1. If you want to murder me without taking the risk of being caught by police, make me drink a cup of tea. Tea is something that I just can’t take….for me it’s yucky. Taking even a sip of it can turn out to be nauseating for me. I had to to drink it once out of formality, that is when I was at this travel agency getting the requirements for one of our college projects. Till to date I’m finding out ways to file an "attempt to murder" case against my teammate…who gave me a little kick under the table asking me to drink the brown fluid in the cup lying in front of me and get going. I didn’t know how to excuse so picked up the cup with trembling hands and drank tea in one breath…argg…emoticon The more weirdo thing is that I’m known for making very good tea  :)

2. In 23 years of my life, I have never bought a lipstick..not even once but that doesn’t mean I don’t use it; in fact that’s the only thing that I use….mascaras, blush ons, foundations etc. are just not for me. For me wearing makeup=wearing a lipstick. I have got 2-3 shades that I stole from my mother’s drawer and they are enough for me :) . A few days back I shared this li’l secret with my colleagues who happen to be good friends too and from the surprised look that I got, seems like they will lure me to buy one sometime soon.

3. I’m a psycho when it comes to cleanliness. The place where I live or where I work needs to be ultra clean to make me feel comfortable. If I a see even a tiny little cocky somewhere, I’d go to any extent to find it and spray it to death else the thought of it being present somewhere near literally haunts my mind. The level of weirdness can be realized from the fact that twice my family members and I took our own plates and spoons with us when we went out to eat something :P He he…u thought I’m the only clean freak psycho at home? Let me tell you that I’m partly so because of the extreme hygienic conditions that I have been brought up in; but to tell you the truth, I attribute my week immune system to the same as well and won’t suggest any of you to be a freak like me.

4. Can you guess my monthly cellphone expenses? I call people and send/reply to text messages like anyone else does but my expenses never cross Rs.100-150 monthly :P I believe some dua for barkat has really worked out Alhamdulilah because I don’t even have any special packages activated on my number :)

5. It has been more than a year now since I graduated but you’d very often hear people (especially my neighbors) asking me that which school/college are you studying these days and when I tell them I completed my bachelors last year and ‘am since then working somewhere, they give me an amazed look and say, "Aww..you look so young!" I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing but I personally feel I look my age.

6. My most favorite status in any IM client is "Invisible/Appear Offline", I might be online all day but you would rarely see me online. Thanks to these lovely status options! :P If I stay online at a certain time, that’s usually because I need to communicate with my teammates.

7. I’m known for my uncontrollable laughter :D If I start laughing, no breaks brakes can easily be applied to that storm of laughter then. Surprisingly, where ever I have been to, be it school, college or offices, I find people who somewhat have similar laughing habits(or may be my laughing disease is viral) and it often is a disaster when we gang up :D . When I was in 8th grade, the only complaint from my teachers was that she and her groupies laugh too much emoticon and no we never laugh with the intention of making fun of others thereby hurting them; but our own blunders are more than often enough to give us fits of laughter. :P

So, these are some of things that show how weird I am but trust me there are many more. :)

I tag everyone who wants to be tagged may be Sana, Aamir, Munir(as a little attempt to make him update his blog :P ), Sakina, Ali and Raza in particular, if they like! :)

Tumhain yaad ho k na yaad ho!

September 11, 2008 – 10:59 pm

So, I’m in a poetic mood today :) Many of u might be surprised to know that because I usually don’t show my interest in shair-o-shairi but at times I can go on reading it for hours and hours…depends entirely on mood :) Have even written a few pieces myself which no-one ..yup..no-one has got a chance to read (except a friend and a teacher who were requested to read just one of them with the purpose of suggesting improvement.."Islaah" is the right word :P ) The rest have never been shared with anyone but my diary and sigh sigh sighhhhhhhh….I lost one of them even before I cud save it in my diary :( . I wrote it I guess in the middle of the night (for those who r into writing and poetry might agree with me that sometimes the most beautiful of thoughts come right in the middle of the night while u r lying in ur comfy bed) so, it was on some random piece of paper that I got my hands on and used it to jot down the  lines echoing in my mind. However, I found that piece of paper lying in my car, in the afternoon the next day while I was driving back from university with dear bhai. In utter state of confusion I picked it up and tried slipping it inside one of my registers before bhai gets to see it. That was the last time I saw it and after that haven’t yet been able to see that lovely piece again :( Don’t know where it disappeared…did I drop it in the car again leaving it for the car cleaner to read and enjoy? If that is so then shall I hope to find it written on some  public bus someday?emoticon I’m missing it because i can’t even recall it completely now else would have written it down again! :(

Khair while I sigh..u enjoy "Woh jo hum main tum main qaraar tha…tumhain yaad ho k na yaad ho"..Beautiful!!

PS:  This isn’t for any significant other and my poems don’t really have nething that need not be disclosed but u know sometimes there are things that u just want to keep up to yourself :)

Cosme’ceutique-pick the color! :)

September 3, 2008 – 4:41 pm

In my previous post I talked about having a version of photoshop which we can use to edit our pimpled and wrinkled faces making them flawless. That sadly isn’t possible in real life but I have found something that can serve as a decent alternative to it :)

If anyone of you actually noticed, the color pallet in my last post shows the different colors from Cosme’ceutique’s range of Cosme’ceuticals :) Cosme’ceutique is a BIOVISTA division and the first "revolutionary brand of Cosme’ceuticals" in Pakistan.

With the kind of acne prone skin that I have, I’m usually afraid of trying out new facial products. The word cosmetics is usually missing from my dictionary because Clearsil’s face wash and Himalaya’s Neem pack are the only two products that have done some good to my skin in my entire life spanned over almost quater century :) So, when I was offered to try out any of the Cosme’ceuticals, I at first felt a little reluctant but just when I read about what Cosme’ceuticals are I decided to accept the offer and see what good can they do to my skin.

Cosme’ceuticals according to the Cosme’ceutique team are  "… ingredients with medicinal properties"and not only that they are said to bring "….the combined benefits of pure, high-quality natural ingredients and scientific research in products of exceptional quality…" (Read More about them here) Since the facial products that I use regularly and have mentioned above also roughly follow the same combination (Clearsil has somewhat medicinal properties and Neem pack’s herbal) so, I expected Cosme’ceuticals to be nice to my skin too and man’o'man they actually have been really really nice to my skin Alhamdulilah :)

I started using their Pimple Scars and Sebum Control cremes around 3 weeks ago. Pimple Scars creme as it claims to make your skin "Smooth & Spotless" really does make your skin smoother and clear rubbing away the ugly acne and pimple scars. I have felt visible improvement in my skin texture since I’ve started using this product and when at my graduation ceremony my friends asked me "How come your skin has become so clear MashAllah?". I said, the reason is right in front of you because Biovista was there at my Convocation to award some corporate gold medals :D

I haven’t yet started using the Sebum Control creme regularly but whatever number of times I have used it, it hasn’t disappointed me. It indeed seem to absorb excess oil making your skin glow and look clean too :)

Now since after quite long any Pakistani product has done really good to my skin so, I decided to blog about it too being part of the Cosme’ceutique Blogger Buzz Campaign :) . What further motivated me to write about cosme’ceuticals is that not even once I have been asked by the Cosme’ceutique team to give them some good reviews. All they have asked for was a review and since it was to come after my trying out their products so, it could have been bad too depending upon my experience. Asking bloggers to write about your product actually is sincerity and faith in the quality of your brand because bloggers are notorious for being more active in mentioning the bad points then the good points(i hope you all remember the Faysal Bank story :P ) Moreover, after using Cosme’ceuticals many of us might actually become Cosme’ceutique’s regular customers so, that way even if anytime in future they seem to compromise on quality, we’ll be the first one to write against them. So, the point is, if they have still asked us to write about them, it’s their honestly which has probably made them do so and also it somewhat proves that they make good products.

They did not choose to market their products withs ads claiming "15 minute main gorri gorri" which in my sight is criminal because nothing in the world can make you fair and pretty in mere 15 mins; but they instead asked common people to publicize their brand. Another thing that I like about Cosme’ceutique is that, they believe not just in making products that can help people get rid of their skin problems but they also educate people telling them what causes different skin problems in the first place. I have received a "Skincare Guide" with my  creme tubes :) Another nice booklet was about the "Product’s Formulation and Scientific Rationale" for different cosme’ceuticals.

They also provide free expert advice by Dr. Najia Ashraf here. Haven’t yet tried it myself but saw it on their website so decided to share :) because you might want to check with the expert first before using any cosme’ceutical.

The only thing that’s worrying me a little is about the prices of Cosme’ceuticals. I’m miser you see :P but it’s also said that good things don’t come cheap :) . I was just wondering if their current prices are going to remain so or are they just introductory prices and might get increased once the brand gets established here. May be somebody from the Cosme’ceutique team can throw some light?

But despite a little high prices, I’d recommend you to pick your color and try any of the cosme’ceuticals out (the one that’s most appropriate for you) and share your experience with others :) .

All the best to both the Cosme’ceutique customers as well as the Cosmeceutique team which deserves a **thumbs up** too :) because there is still one more thing about them that has made me really really glad. Their attitude towards Corporate Social Responsiblity. Check out yourself what they have done, here.

Disclaimer: I havn’t been given any cash amount to write this review. All I have got is a pack containing two cosme’ceuticals, three booklets about them and an offer to be part of the Blogger Buzz Campaign. The views expressed above are based upon my honest opinion :)

Can I have Photoshop?

September 2, 2008 – 11:34 pm

No, please don’t give me a link to download Adobe Photoshop, I already have it on my system :) and I’m sure many of you might be having it too but still when honest mirror shows us in any of these states….

…life just demands to have one other version of Photoshop as well in which we can edit ourselves and be the beauties :P

Pick some colors from the color picker and add it to our lives because more than often external beauty is well-taken more here than the internal beauty.

However, unfortunately any such version of Photoshop is not yet available so, we need to seek for something else. Maybe the creme which can make us beautiful in 15 mins just as that girl in the ad who sings "Bus pundra minute main hogayee main gorri gorri" :P ?

Or do we have anything else as well? Yes, No, Maybe? As always I welcome comments :)

PS: The first image used in this post is actually a photoshopped version of three different images (See I’m fond of using Photoshop) :P The original images could be found here:

Ramazan Mubarak

September 2, 2008 – 11:05 pm

Ramazan Mubarak to all of you. May Allah(SWT) bless us all with Imaan in this month and all year long :)

Quick update on why I’m away from my blog..as usual mainly because of KESC’s blessings (if you know what I mean…if you don’t then you are probably not a karachite ). My absence is also partly because of laziness, partly because of illness…third week of treatment has started, in the first week after medications, I felt energized but now I’ve somewhat started getting some symptoms again…need to wait for some more time for medicines to help me get rid of them :) Till then I prefer sleeping as much as I can and stay in hibernate state :P

Will reply to your comments on my different posts as soon as I come out of my hibernation state InshAllah :)

Remember me and my family in your prayers :)

PS: By Imaan I mean "Faith in Allah(SWT)" and not Iman Ali…so guys be careful :P
