All progress, good and bad, has been made due to this void. Learning is a life-long process, keep it that way. Eager minds want knowledge, but knowledge is not bound by their expectations. If you keep learning, it will change you, possibly at a fundamental level even, its part of the package so be prepared for it. Going for your ambitions leaves casualties behind, something loved will need to sacrificed, make good choices. There is no shame in material progress, otherwise its like saying 'I want everything for my soul but nothing for my body', which is material but equally important. Dont repay your loved ones, they are not a bank and this is not a business transaction, do something new for them. Finally, stop crying this is just the beginning.
