Cause and Effect!

A very interesting piece from "Silva Mind Control Method of Mental Dynamics" By Jose’ Silva.

One day a leaf fell in a California forest. It landed on the forest floor, and a fat green caterpillar that was inching along had to make a sharp turn to avoid it. The caterpillar came to a log and climbed up the side. Just as it reached the top of the log, a man came by and sat down, squishing the caterpillar. The man jumped up and felt the goo on the seat of his pants. On returning home, he changed clothes and took the pants to the local cleaners. While there he met a young woman and they began a conversation, which continued at a nearby coffee shop. They began to date, fell in love, married and had a child. Their son, being very clever, did well in school, became an attorney, and then went into politics, rising in his party.
And so, because a leaf fell in the forest one day, Richard Nixon became the thirty-seventh president of the United States. Cause and effect!

Why?

Opened up the post editor to post sumthing about the IEEE-ACM seminar that we had at our college today but a news item related to the shootings in Virginia Tech university caught m eye…so decided to post on it first.

This piece of news "Va. Tech shooter was laughed at" has made me think that y do we make fun of each other…we all know that noone is perfect and we have all got certain weaknesses..even then y do we hurt people by picking on their weak points and invite tragedies like this one!

I was tired but still was willing to work, did some part of research report work at college, put it in my usb drive so that i can complete the rest at home but on reaching home realized that i forgot to eject it from that lab pc….arggggggggggg!! I just don’t feel like working anymore b’coz i’m worried abt my usb…i can’t afford to lose it emoticon there’s sooo much imp data in it and noway is my mom going to get me a new one if khuda na khawsta it gets stolen..i’m just praying that i get it back! and y ‘am i sooo stupid…..waisay i’ve never been soo careless then y this time :(

Job Hunt!

Around a month to go and then I’ll be a graduate Inshallah. I have already started looking for jobs and went to the Job fair at Expo, today. Arranged by Rozee.pk for the first time in Karachi, this job fair was an amazing place to get in touch with around 50 organizations all under one roof. Meeting different employers, I started feeling myself lucky for I feel I’m graduating at the right time with the right kind of skills Alhamdulilah. When I planned to do BS(CS) back in 2003 I guess my mum and bro were the only ones who supported me while the rest said, “Baywaqoof ho, computer sciences ka abb scope nahi raha”. But since I cudn’t do anything but what interests me so I decided to stick to my decision because I was genuinely interested in this field. And now after 4 years, I have no regrets as these days organizations are desperately looking for IT people. Most of the companies in the job fair today were IT/telecom companies and I kinda felt myself flooded with opportunities. However, the bad part is that I being a female was discouraged to enter into fields of networking and telecom (technical side) while these two happen to be my main areas of interest. I met a counselor from PASHA, the IT manager of Ufone and a couple of other people and they said that most of the jobs in these areas require a person to be on call 24/7 so we wud advise u not to go for them. But at the same time I met telenor’s team as well, which is working to end up this stereotyping and has got many females working at the technical side. Then I met the Motorola people who after looking at my percentages and CGPA gave me the title of a “Bookish Girl”….he he….i had to clarify that I’m not a nerd and told them to have a look at my co-curricular activitiesemoticon. I applied at different software houses as well. After all that my friend and I went to geo’s stall so as get some info abt their IT department but they were looking for news anchors and guess what? I gave the audition emoticon which I guess went really good. I used to be a very good mimic in school days, took part in different skits and plays during my college life and a couple of debating competitions in university life so all this helped.

Overall, it was a great experience to attend such an event, meet people from the professional world and yes i met a lot of my old friends there as well :) , however, rite now i’m feeling a little depressed..haven’t yet completed the research paper and my supervisor has emailed me twice…..he wants me to upload the paper for the conference….hai……sunday went all too quickly…..have classes till aroung 6 tomorrow and have an hourly on tuesday…(n-1) chance availed…..when am i going to work on my paper…haiiiiiiiiii……

Sindhi Newspapers

Since Sindhi is my mother tongue so i’ve always enjoyed reading sindhi newspapers but it’s gr8 to see that sindhi newspapers are gaining readership from even those to whom sindhi is a second langauge.  Owais Mughal from Pakistaniat.com has written a wonderful article "Sindhi Newspapers in Pakistan " , which presents some interesting points about sindhi newspress. A very well-written and well-researched article!

Research paper :)

Sumtimes a small comment by sumone is enuf to charge u up. For the last few days i had been working on a research paper which is to be submitted for a conference in Japan…..i spent at least 2 to 3 straight nighters to complete it and submitted it to my supervisor. My friend who coauthored this paper with me and I were repharsing sum parts of the paper yesterday and we suddenly felt that we hav cum in the wrong direction…this isn’t what we wanted to do or perhaps were required to do. Oops!! we ran to our supervisor….had a discussion with him and decided to make another paper on a slightly different topic..God…i was just not in a mood to work on sumthing new and especially when the deadline is so near…..was depressed all day yesterday…came up with a new topic and the abstract..sent it to the supervisor at 4 a.m. last night  or shall i call it morning…hmmm…i dunno. I didn’t even take my morning class today coz i was feeling too down and it was the first time in 4 yr of my BS that i missed ne class without a genuine reason. But neway i hav just received my supervisor’s reply…he has said…"great complete the paper"…and this comment has energized me soooo much that now i’m more than happy to work on this paper :D ……though i kno i won’t be able to sleep tonight b’coz of this paper but still…i’m happy emoticon
