When your are working on your final year CS project then:
1) U should be ready to take 8 hrs sleep (not in 24 hrs but in 48 hrs) ![]()
2) Azan-e-Maghrib should remind u that it’s no longer noon and u missed ur Zuhr and Asr prayers
3) Having a meal once a day is a standard. However, u can have a cup of Millo milk in the morning and chocolates and bikkos (term used for biscuits in Fariha’s lingo) after irregular intervals (nothing is regular in ur life when u r working on a CS project) . Make sure that the lab assistant is not watching u when u r having ur chocolate else u’ll be thrown out of the lab.
3) U must be planning about renting a room at ur university simply b’coz u r there all the time and cum home just to have ur single meal or take a few hrs sleep. So, it’s better that u rent a room at uni and stay there during the course of CS project. Why bother family members abt picking u up from uni and then dropping u there again after a couple of hrs.
4) If u r addicted to reading newspaper and can’t digest ur M3 (Morning Millo Milk) without reading newspaper then u shud better start taking sum medicine that helps u digest ur M3 b’coz u won’t have time to read newspaper…atleast not in the morning…u need to have a cup of milk in ur one hand and u shud be brushing ur hair with the other.
5) When u get up in the morning, the title and specifications of ur project should be the first things to cum to ur mind.
6) U shud have sum athletic abilities b’coz CS requires u to run from one campus to another and then from one floor to another chasing ur supervisor.
7) Build strong muscles, u need to stand continuously for atleast 2 hrs a day. Half an hr standing outside ur supervisor’s room waiting for ur turn or simply b’coz u cudn’t find him (Here even Google Advanced Search doesn’t work..RFID tags might do sum good) and then u need to spend the remaining 1 and a half hr discussing ur project with ur supervisor. (All the chairs in his room are usually occupied, however, on sum lucky day u might get a chance to sit during last 10 minutes of the conversation but that too if the supervisor realizes that u r standing for quite long or if u faint)
7) If sumone asks k tumharay paas van hai ya nahi and u say I can’t even have LAN..tum WAN ki baat karrahi ho..then u r working on a CS project for sure
8) If u have to read loads and loads of pdf documents, take an hourly for CS even and u r overusing the words dynamic, coordinated, resource-sharing and infrastructure then u r working on a Grid related project specifically.
9) If u look in the mirror and get shocked…No No not b’coz u r looking gorgeous but b’coz the image in the mirror makes u ask urself…Is that really me?..i never had such a horrible look then u shud realize that it’s night now, u r in your washroom, there’s a tap, a sink and a face wash right under the mirror u r looking urself in and u badly need to wash ur face. So, kindly trouble ur muscles to wash ur face otherwise the next day u will hear moms saying to their kids….sau jao warna fariha aajaye gi aur tumhain kha jayegi!
Posted this on my live space last semester but ‘am posting it here again because things aren’t ne different this semester as well ! Infact there’s a lot more that makes u and others around u realize that u r working on a CS project but I simply don’t have time to list that down…CS par kaam karna hai yaar ![]()
Very nice animations. The second one is simply hilarious
Check ‘em out!
For the last one week my life has somehow been revolving around Si3. First I got an interview call from there, the interview went great Alhamdulilah and they were also ready to offer me an internship but were asking me to work for 40 hours per week and I being a full-time student couldn’t give them more than 25 yrs hrs so I was unable to accept this offer
Hope I get such great opportunities once I graduate as well.
Other than the interview, I organized a forum at my college where I invited Mr. Amer Hashmi, President and CEO, Si3. Si3 being the first billion-dollar company of Pakistan is often taken as the Infosys and Wipro of Pakistan and after meeting Mr. Amer I got to know a lot about what it takes to come up with such IT giants.
Mr. Amer is one of those lovely people who are always willing to share their rich experiences and knowledge with the Pakistani youth. I was really taken by his personality and what impressed me the most is that he’s a proud Pakistani and more than that someone who’s proud of his Muslim origin. These days I come across people who prefer saying Hi when u greet them with “Assalam o alaikum” and they consider you a bit conservative if you say “Alhamdulilah” or “Mashallah” but Mr. Amer greeted us all with Assalam o Alaikum and kept using the words “Mashallah” and “By the Grace of Allah” throughout his presentation.
Spending some quality time with us he told that IT industry being the 1.4 trillion dollar industry is the third largest in the world but sadly we Pakistanis haven’t yet been able to realize its full potential. Mr. Amer envisions Pakistan as one of the greatest IT emerging markets but few of the weaknesses that need to be overcome are:
Lack of Pro-Pakistani attitude
Lack of R&D
Lack of people having business acumen along with technical skills
Failure to perceive IT as a means of providing services
There’s a lot more that he shared with us but can’t write about all of it mainly because of shortage of time, however, I’m definitely going to touch this topic in my future posts.
He he..i have been studying software engineering for the past 4 yrs and haven’t yet been able to get a degree…still 2 more months to go but yahooo!! I just got a blogging degree …so i consider myself a graduate now with this degree under my belt..plz ignore the major…it got misprinted…’am going to contact the administration of the University of blogging soon..lolz

I have been damn too busy for the last few days and in fact still am. Would tell you people about what has kept me so busy soon. Today, I have just dropped in to say "Happy Women’s Day!" to all the readers of my blog.
Btw do we have nething like "Men’s Day" ?
Got this as a scrap on orkut and I feel this is a very common students’ problem
Samundar Jitna Syllabus Hai,
Nadi Jitna Parh Paate Hain,
Baalti Jitna Yaad Rehta Hai,
Mug Jitna Likh Paate Hain,
Chullu Bhar Number Aate Hain,
Aur Usi Mein Doob Kar Mar Jaate Hain
Whooo…I think I’m on my way to the world of lunatics. I don’t consider myself to be an absolute techie but still I’m getting dreams about datasets, Alchemi Grid middleware, dynamic semantics, recommender applications and what not! God! Isn’t that crazy? These days I spend an average 12 to 15 hours per day working on my projects and the rest 9 to 12 hours taking classes, having food, taking bath, offering namaz, netsurfing, blogging and all this while brainstorming about different things related to these projects. Is that the reason why I have started getting tech dreams during the few hours that I manage to take out for sleep or have I gone mad?
My article got published at KMB. A Big BIG thanks to Dr.Awab a.k.a. Teeth Maestro for not only publishing it but for also editing it. It certainly looks a lot better now
